A large part of Metro Manila and other areas in Luzon were hit by a magnitude 5.1 earthquake early Wednesday, February 11, 2015.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) said the quake struck at 12:09 a.m. and it’s epicenter was traced at 22 km southwest of Nasugbu, Batangas.
The quake, which was tectonic in origin, was felt at Intensity 3 in Nasugbu, Batangas.
It was felt at Intensity 2 in Pasay City, Manila City, Muntinlupa City, and Quezon City.
Phivolcs said it is expecting aftershocks.
Earlier, Phivolcs recorded a magnitude 5.7 earthquake at 104 km northeast of Mercedes, Eastern Samar. It struck at 9:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 10, 2015.
