Vice Ganda wore a loom-band inspired outfit at the 4th Celebrity Yahoo Awards show, where he won Social Media Star of the Year.
The actor-host-comedian was the first to win the newly added award. He received a total of 214,286 and bested other nominees such as Team Kramer, Anne Curtis, Kris Aquino, and Ramon Bautista. Vice Ganda attributed the win to his legion of fans and followers he calls “Little Ponies.”
His outfit, which was designed after the popular accessory loom bands, stood out in the crowd because of the exaggeration of the giant loom band wrapped around his body. The pastel colours of the band greatly complimented his hair, which made him look fun and quirky – a style that is different in galas such as the Yahoo Awards.
Loom bands are a DIY fashion accessory that is popular worldwide. The loom bands are weaved together to create bracelets and other accessories. These accessories have been worn by international personalities such as Kate Middleton, David Beckham, and Miley Cyrus. The loom band craze arrived in the Philippines about a few months ago and Vice Ganda has since been sporting the accessory.
