Legazpi City, Albay Official Local Candidates 2019 Midterm Elections

Two people are running for mayor of Legazpi City, Albay in the coming 2019 local elections.

Registered voters will elect for the elective local posts in Legazpi City, Albay: the mayor, vice mayor, the Congressman, and the councilors, six in each of the city’s two legislative districts, on May 13, 2019.

Legazpi, officially the City of Legazpi, (Central Bicolano: Ciudad nin Legazpi; Tagalog: Lungsod ng Legazpi; Spanish: Ciudad de Legazpi) and often referred to as Legazpi City, is a 1st Class component city and the capital of the province of Albay in the Philippines. According to the 2015 census, it has a population of 196,639. Legazpi is the regional center and largest city of the Bicol Region, in terms of population. It is the region’s center of tourism, education, health services, commerce and transportation in the Bicol Region.

The city is composed of two districts: Legazpi Port and Old Albay District. Mayon Volcano, one of the Philippines’ most popular icons and tourist destinations, is partly within the city’s borders.

Guidelines for Verification

  1. The Certified List of Candidates (List), as posted, is merely an initial List and subject to editing.
  2. All candidates are enjoined to check their names, specifically their Names to Appear on the Official Ballot, in the List.
  3. Any request for correction, if allowed, shall be communicated to the Regional Election Director, Provincial Election Supervisor, or Election Officer concerned in writing until 9 November 2018. The Election Officer shall in turn, submit a memorandum to the Law Department, by the fastest means of communication with regard to the request for correction.
  4. The Law Department shall determine whether or not the request for correction is allowed.
  5. The List is subject to the outcome of the various cases/issues pending before the Commission.
