Three people are running for mayor of Cotabato City, Maguindanao in the coming 2019 local elections.

Registered voters will elect for the elective local posts in
Cotabato City, Maguindanao: the mayor, vice mayor, the Congressman, and the councilors, six in each of the city’s two legislative districts, on May 13, 2019.

Cotabato City, officially the City of Cotabato (Maguindanaon: Ingud nu Kutawatu; Iranun: Inged a Kotawato) is an independent component city in the newly created Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao. According to the 2015 census, it has a population of 299,438.

Cotabato City is formerly part and the regional center of Region XII. However, due to the ratification of the Bangsamoro Organic Law, it is now part of BARMM. Being an independent component city, it’s not a subject to regulation from the Provincial Government of Maguindanao where it is geographically located. The Philippine Statistics Authority also list Cotabato City as statistically independent.

Guidelines for Verification

  1. The Certified List of Candidates (List), as posted, is merely an initial List and subject to editing.
  2. All candidates are enjoined to check their names, specifically their Names to Appear on the Official Ballot, in the List.
  3. Any request for correction, if allowed, shall be communicated to the Regional Election Director, Provincial Election Supervisor, or Election Officer concerned in writing until 9 November 2018. The Election Officer shall in turn, submit a memorandum to the Law Department, by the fastest means of communication with regard to the request for correction.
  4. The Law Department shall determine whether or not the request for correction is allowed.
  5. The List is subject to the outcome of the various cases/issues pending before the Commission.
