Malacañang on Friday morning, September 19, 2014 announced that it is suspending work in government offices in Metro Manila and other areas affected by heavy rain and floods brought by Tropical Storm Mario.
Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Abigail Valte has released a statement on the suspension of work in government offices for September 19, 2014.
“Work in government offices has been suspended by Executive Secretary Paquito N. Ochoa Jr., for today, September 19, 2014, except for those agencies whose work involves the delivery of basic and health services, disaster response and other vital public services.”
The following areas are covered by the suspension in government offices:
- Metro Manila
- Zambales
- Bataan
- Pampanga
- Tarlac
- Nueva Ecija
- Bulacan
- Rizal
- Cavite
- Batangas
- Laguna
- Quezon, including Polillo Island
- Mindoro Provinces
- Camarines Norte
- Marinduque
- Pangasinan
Regarding work suspension in private sector, Valte said that the discretion to suspend work lies with the individual companies and employers.
“We urge employers to consider the circumstances of their employees brought about by the effects of Tropical Storm Mario.”
Earlier, Executive Secretary Paquito N. Ochoa, Jr., upon the recommendation of NDRRMC, has suspended classes in all levels, public and private.
PAGASA said that rain is predicted to prevail until after noon today.
