Typhoon Ruby (international codename Hagupit) has been spotted at 70 km Northwest of Masbate City, Sunday evening, December 7, 2014.

State weather bureau PAGASA said that as of 10 pm Sunday, Bagyong Ruby was carrying maximum sustained winds of 140 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 170 kph.

The system is carrying 5 to 15 mm per per hour (moderate – heavy) within the 450 km diameter of the typhoon.

It is forecast to move West Northwest at 10 kph.

Residents in low-lying and mountainous areas are alerted against flashfloods and landslides. Likewise, those living along the coast are warned on the occurrence of big waves associated with Storm Surge which may reach up to 3 meters.

  • Nueva Ecija
  • Tarlac
  • Pampanga
  • Catanduanes
  • Northern Palawan including Cuyo
  • Northern Samar
  • Eastern Samar
  • Samar
  • Leyte
  • Iloilo
  • Antique
  • Guimaras
  • Negros Occidental
  • Northern Cebu including Cebu City
  • Camotes Island

These areas will have occasional rains with occasional gusty winds.

Typhoon Ruby is expected to be at 45 km Northwest of Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro by Monday evening, 335 km West of Calapan City, 290 km West of Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro by Tuesday evening, and 550 km West of Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro by Wednesday evening.

PAGASA added that Supertyphoon Ruby and the Northeast Monsoon will bring rough to very rough sea conditions over the seaboards of Northern Luzon, eastern seaboard of Central and Southern Luzon, over the seaboards of Visayas and over the northern and eastern seaboards of Mindanao.

Fisherfolks and those using small seacraft are advised not to venture out over the said seaboards. Moreover, those living near coastal areas are alerted against possible storm surges.
