A low pressure area spotted in the Luzon developed into a tropical depression on Sunday evening, July 15 and is expected to bring rainfall in several areas in the following days. It has been given the local name Henry.
According to the 11 p.m. weather bulletin of PAGASA, the eye or center of Tropical Depression Henry was located 670 kilometers east southeast of Basco, Batanes, moving west southwest at a relatively fast 25 kilometers per hour (km/h).
Henry has maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 65 kph.
Signal number 1 is now raised over:
- Batanes
- northern part of Cagayan including the Babuyan Group of Islands
- northern part of Apayao
- northern part of Ilocos Norte
PAGASA warned that occasional rains with gusty winds are expected in areas under signal number 1.
On one hand, the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) will bring monsoon rains over Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, Mindoro Provinces, Palawan and Western Visayas, and scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms over Metro Manila, the rest of Central Luzon and of CALABARZON, Marinduque and Romblon.

Residents of the aforementioned areas, especially those living in low-lying and mountainous areas, are advised to continue monitoring for updates, coordinate with their local disaster risk reduction and management offices, and take appropriate actions against possible flooding and landslides.
