Richard Alonzo of Kia Sorento and Anthony Semerad of GlobalPort Batang Pier figured in a fist fight at the 2014-2015 PBA Philippine Cup on Tuesday, November 4.
In the first quarter with 48.6 seconds remaining, it was when Alonzo pushed Semerad while the latter was retrieving a loose ball, which resulted Semerad out of the court. Semerad then came to beat Alonzo but the Kia Sorento’s player stuck out an elbow.
After the initial entanglement, the two players fell to the ground where they exchanged elbows and kicks. The referees immediately came in to break up the fight.
The two involved players have been called for double technical fouls and escaping ejection.
In the end-game, Globalport Batang Pier pulled off an 84-79 victory over the Kia Sorento during their clash at the PBA Philippine Cup at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
Hans Thiele led Kia Sorento with 19 points and eight boards with Reil Cervantes adding 15 and Alvin Padilla pitching in 11 points as they go 1-3 for the conference.
Meanwhile, Ronjay Buenafe poured in 19 points. Stanley Pringle chipped in 13 points with eight boards and six assists with Semerad and Mark Isip adding 12 and 10 points, respectively.
