President Rodrigo Roa Duterte delivered his 2017 State of the Nation Address (SONA) live at the Batasang Pambansa on Monday, July 24, 2017.

The address was rendered in broad strokes reviewing past achievements, stating the present situation and announcing future prospects.

The president took more than two hours to deliver his speech; including curses, pauses for applause and off-the-cuff remarks.

In his message, President Duterte hit some media companies including ABS-CBN and Rappler.

“When you are a newspaper, you are suppose to be 100 percent Filipino, and yet when you start to pierce their identity, it is fully owned by Americans,” President Duterte said.

“ABS, Rappler kayo ba yan?” Duterte asked.

“Have you try to pierce your identity? It will lead you to America and yet the constitution requires you to be 100 percent Filipino media.”

“Rappler, try to pierce their identity and you will end up American ownership,” he added.
