The hashtags #DarrenDontLeaveThePhilippines and #TVKDarrenForTheChampion is currently on the first and second spot of today’s Philippine trends.

The finale of The Voice Kids was shown last night where Darren, a crowd favorite, placed first runner up. He was second to Lyca Gairanod, a fellow Team Sarah, who bagged the first ever The Voice Kids award.

Their mentor, Popstar Sarah Geronimo, was proud of their achievements. “Alam mo sobrang tuliro ako kapag nagka-campaign ako sa dalawa,” Sarah said in an interview after the show’s grand finals night. “Kasi pareho ko silang mahal, pareho akong naniniwala sa talento nila, sabi ko kahit sino manalo sa kanila, okay na ko.”

“Si Darren nakita ko talaga siyang nag-shine last night sa rendition niya ng ‘Ngayon.’ Talagang powerful, talagang wow! Akala ko siya na talaga, e,” Sarah said.

During the season’s grand finale weekend, Darren performed the songs “You are My Song” with concert king Martin Nievera, “Ngayon”, and “Somebody To Love”. Although he didn’t win the title, he was very happy and proud of his co-competitor Lyca, who he treats as his little sister. He also said that if he ever won The Voice, he will give the House and Lot prize to Lyca.

Darren is a 13-year-old Filipino-Canadian. His fans believe that he will soon come back to Canada, where he was born, hence the hashtag begging him not to leave Philippines. He is currently studying in Calgary and only went to the Philippines to join The Voice Kids.
