UNTV has started a campaign against Sofitel on Twitter and Facebook promoting the hashtags #NoToSofitel and #BoycottSofitelPH after the five-star luxury resort hotel removed the station from their TV hotel programming.
The hashtags became trends on Twitter and UNTV’s Facebook post, lamenting about Sofitel’s removal of the only public service channel in the Philippines, has been shared 2,948 times as of writing.
The boycott campaign was also announced by CEO Daniel Razon on his morning magazine program, “Good Morning Kuya”, after Sofitel’s alleged biased move and media discrimination.
Netizens immediately posted their sentiments on Twitter accompanied by the hashtags, which caused them to immediately rise up the Philippine Trends ladder. Similar to UNTV’s reaction, Twitter users expressed disappointment with the unexplained delisting of the channel.
Here are some comments:
UNTV – Your Public Service Channel’s posted the following on their Facebook page:
(Link: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=929182000440547&set=a.272191939472893.87098.187059061319515)
Sofitel has not released statements about the matter.
