Six teams from different countries have converged in Manila to lock horns and earn the right to qualify for the 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil.

Canada, Senegal and Turkey are set to square off in Group A, while France, New Zealand and hosts Philippines will trade blows in Group B. Only the winner of the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament (OQT), which runs 5-10 July, will qualify for Rio 2016.

Gilas Pilipinas will face powerhouse France first on Tuesday, July 5, at 9 pm and will then take on New Zealand the following day also at 9 pm.

Each team needs to win at least one game to move past the first round.

Rappler reported that the winner of the Manila tournament will join two countries from the other two legs in Italy and Serbia to complete the Rio Olympics cast for August.
