One 81-year old, Dr. Ananias Hibo Jr., is the oldest graduate of his college and the entire country and proved that it’s never too late to follow your dream to become a lawyer.
Dr. Hibo is a medical doctor and practitioner from Sorsogon, who has said that his age and previous academic accomplishments did not stop him to pursue his dream and earn a law degree.
ABS-CBN News reports that Dr. Ananias Hibo Jr. received his diploma last Saturday, March 22.
He said while he may be the most senior in his class, he did not receive any special treatment and had to study hard to earn his diploma.
In fact, the career path and the study field of both law and medicine are far different from each other. Moreover, these two fields of studies involved not only a long term commitment of education, because these would involve (literally) years of schooling, but also a long term of commitment in executing the profession.
“Magpapractice ako both professions. Ang sistema ko diyan, yung mangangailangan ng dipensa, dipensa. Kung may sakit, gagamutin. Hindi naman ako naghahangad na yumaman, basta ako tumutulong,” he said.
Dr. Hibo is planning to take the Bar exam October this year. He attested that the statement ‘age doesn’t matter’ does not only imply to love aspect but also in education.
