A 5.3 magnitude earthquake jolted the province of Quezon Wednesday night, September 3, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) said.
The quake occurred at 9:43 p.m with the epicenter being traced in the seas 92 kilometers northeast of Jomalig, Quezon. No damage was reported. PHIVOLCS said aftershocks are imminent.
Phivolcs said the earthquake had a depth of focus of 10 km.
The 5.3-magnitude quake was felt at Intensity III in Quezon City, PHIVOLCS added.
The Philippines sits in the so-called Pacific Ring of Fire, an area where continental plates collide producing frequent earthquakes and volcanic activities.
