Taguig families plan to evacuate

As the earthquake drill on July 30 approaches, several families in the city of Taguig are planning to evacuate their homes in anticipation of the “big one” earthquake from the movement of West Valley Fault.

When interviewed by Local Pulse, a significant number of families confirmed that they planned to leave their homes as early as Friday, July 24. Some believed that the earthquake will hit on July 26 as some websites pointed out that global disaster and major worldwide calamities always happen on the 26th day of the month.

Some said they planned to leave their homes for few days because they are still scared of the viral social media post warning the public of an impending earthquake to happen between July 27 and July 29 even if Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) already disproved the claim.

One Facebook user even told others that hey have just been informed by someone from the elite society that a monster earthquake will hit Metro Manila. She said, “They are informed but not everyone. There will be an earthquake talaga to hit many areas in luzon including our area (Taguig) bigger than expected ang masaklap hindi alam kung kelan talaga sya mangyayare kaya likas2x muna.”

When asked where they planned to go, some answered as far as Mindanao. Some families also planned to go to Mindoro, Pangasinan, or Ilocos region or any place which is at least 25 kilometers away from the fault line.
