In DZMM‘s Red Alert Expo today at Bakasyunan Resort and Conference Center, Tanay Rizal, Emergency Expert Louie Domingo shared one gadget that can be easily prepared to make people and their families ready for the next super typhoon.
The gadget, called, “E-BALDE” or emergency pail, is aimed to mitigate the consequences of any calamity by making preparedness a lifestyle – a part of living.
The contents of the e-balde are as follows:
- Flashlights
- Spare Batteries
- Canned Goods (Preferably Spanish Style for its oil can be used for lamp)
- Mirror
- Colorful Shirts
- Medicine
- Toys
- One-liter PET bottle
- Povidone Iodine
- Trash Bag
- Sling
“Preparedness is important because it mitigates the effects of any disaster to us. For instance, there is a typhoon; all you can work on is not getting wet. With preparedness, however, you can act upon not getting sick, hungry and thirsty because you prepared the things needed for these,” said Domingo.
Domingo also said that with the technology advancements nowadays – with news already easily accessible through mobiles – people should already learn to survive any calamity with zero casualties.
“Preparedness should be a lifestyle. You live with it. It’s an everydaything,” Domingo urged. “Kailangan magprepare na ngayon kasi during the time of emergency, agawan na ‘yan, [there will be] no more time to prepare (It is needed to prepare now because during the time of emergency, people will scramble. There will be no more time to prepare),” he added.
Approximately 200 participants from different companies and universities attended the said event.
