
At least 2 people were injured after a crude bomb kept at the back portion of a commuter van exploded on Wednesday morning, Nov. 18, in Davao City.
The blast, injuring the driver and the conductor, occurred around 9:40 am along Ecoland Drive, just several meters away from the mall.
Chief Inspector Milgrace Driz, spokesperson of the Davao City Police, said the passenger van was hit by the explosion as it was passing near the Ecoland condominiums in Matina district at around 9:45 a.m.
Reports said that the bomb exploded after its passengers who came from Pikit, North Cotabato have already alighted and the van was already on its way to the Ecoland Terminal.
The local police has yet to determine who was responsible and the motive for the attack.
Other reports said said police has yet to verify if this is a handiwork of the ISIS terror group in Southern Mindanao.
Police Superintendent Vicente Danao said the city has been on the double alert and asked the public to be on watch and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
He said that this bombing could be aimed at creating chaos and embarrass the government while the country is hosting the APEC economic leaders’ summit.
