A child hospitalized at Faith Hospital in Ozamiz City, Misamis Occidental suffered hand burns allegedly due to medical practitioner’s negligence.

Based on the conversations between the relatives of the baby, the cannula was misplaced, which resulted for the antibiotic drug to be inserted into the tissues rather than the blood stream. The malpractice is considered by doctors to be highly toxic and can cause severe burns.
Relatives of the child appeal to obtain legal aid for the child to bring a claim for clinical negligence, alleging that the hospital staff were negligent in misplacing the cannula and for not noticing it was misplaced and continuing with the drug administration.
It is not clear if a liability has been admitted by the hospital and a settlement has been given to the victims but since the relatives of the patient are still appealing, it turns out that no settlement has been released to them.
