Malacañang has declared Nov. 2 and Dec. 24, 2018 as special non-working days in the country to “strengthen family ties.”
The declaration was made through Proclamation No. 269 released on Wednesday, July 19 and signed by Executive Secretary Salvador C. Medialdea.
Nov. 1 or All Saints’ Day and Dec. 25 or Christmas Day are regular holidays in the country. Nov. 1 falls on a Thursday while Dec. 25 falls on Tuesday.
“Whereas, declaring 2 November 2018 (Friday) and 24 December 2018 (Monday) as additional special (non-working) days throughout the country will strengthen family ties by providing more time for the traditional All Saints’ Day, All Souls’ Day and Christmas Day commemorative activities, and will promote domestic tourism as well,” the proclamation said.

The presidential palace also directed the Department of Labor and Employment to issue appropriate circular to implement the proclamation for the private sector.
Meanwhile, the President also declared the observance of Eid’l Fit’r and Eid’l Adha as national holidays but the dates would be issued after “the approximate dates of the Islamic holidays have been determined in accordance with the Islamic calendar [Hijra] or the lunar calendar, or upon Islamic astronomical calculations, whichever is possible or convenient.”
The National Commission on Muslim Filipinos has been designated to inform the Office of the President of the actual dates when the holidays would fall.
