Mommy D, or Dionisia Pacquiao in real life, revealed her 40-year-old boyfriend Michael in an interview with ABS-CBN’s Bandila. Michael first appeared publicly as her escort during the grand celebration of her 65th birthday last May.
The mother of the boxing champ, Manny Pacquiao, said that she doesn’t intend to settle with Michael anytime soon. This is contrary to the statements given by her son during an interview with Anthony Taberna. Manny said in the interview that her mother is currently living in with her boyfriend and is planning to marry him soon.
Mommy D defended herself, saying that they are not living together and she is somewhat skeptical with settling down with Michael because the latter has plans to work abroad. “Huwag magpadalus-dalos sa lahat ng mga nanliligaw, kasi marami ba ‘yang magsasabi na, ‘Mahal taka,’ pero binigkas lang sa labi,” said Mommy D.
In the interview, she also said that it’s only natural for her to have a boyfriend and admitted how lonely it was to be by herself. However, Mommy D also ensured that if things between her and Michael go awry, she won’t be hurt too much. She said: “Mag-iwan ka ng para sa iyo. Magtira ka ng para sa iyong katawan, para sa utak mo. Hindi mo ibuhos sa lalaki, hindi mo ibuhos sa boyfriend.”
Mommy D also said that if there are plans of marriage soon, she will inform the public about it.
Meanwhile, the reaction of her family members are mixed. Some, like Manny, doesn’t feel comfortable at the thought of their mother getting married once again (read more about his interview here) but some, like Jinkee Pacquiao who is Manny’s wife, showed full support.
“Like nya yun, e. Kung saan sya happy, dun ako sa kanya,” said Jinkee.
