Morong, Quezon Official Local Candidates 2019 Midterm Elections

Two people are running for mayor of Morong, Rizal in the coming 2019 local elections.

Registered voters will elect for the elective local posts in Morong: the mayor, vice mayor, the Congressman, and the councilors, six in each of the city’s two legislative districts, on May 13, 2019.

Morong, officially the Municipality of Morong, (Tagalog: Bayan ng Morong), is a 2nd class municipality in the province of Rizal, Philippines. According to the 2015 census, it has a population of 58,118 people.

A popular attraction is Spanish-era St. Jerome’s Parish Church. The town is also known for featuring the balaw-balaw side dish, as well as for having education as its priority- “Una Ang Edukasyon” (Education first), that is why during the early-1970s and early-1990s, it became the center of education. Students from different places mostly in the nearby towns of Rizal would come and study in Morong.

Guidelines for Verification

  1. The Certified List of Candidates (List), as posted, is merely an initial List and subject to editing.
  2. All candidates are enjoined to check their names, specifically their Names to Appear on the Official Ballot, in the List.
  3. Any request for correction, if allowed, shall be communicated to the Regional Election Director, Provincial Election Supervisor, or Election Officer concerned in writing until 9 November 2018. The Election Officer shall in turn, submit a memorandum to the Law Department, by the fastest means of communication with regard to the request for correction.
  4. The Law Department shall determine whether or not the request for correction is allowed.
  5. The List is subject to the outcome of the various cases/issues pending before the Commission.
