Guinayangan, Quezon Official Local Candidates 2019 Midterm Elections

Two people are running for mayor of Guinayangan, Quezon in the coming 2019 local elections.

Registered voters will elect for the elective local posts in Guinayangan: the mayor, vice mayor, the Congressman, and the councilors, six in each of the city’s two legislative districts, on May 13, 2019.

Guinayangan, officially the Municipality of Guinayangan, (Tagalog: Bayan ng Guinayangan), is a 3rd class municipality in the province of Quezon, Philippines. According to the 2015 census, it has a population of 45,155 people.

Guinayangan came from a native word for cane “gayang”, they “copied”—ginaya and adopted the name to become “ginayangan” or what is now known as “Guinayangan”. Its people pronounce it “Ginyangan” omitting the “a” sound.

The municipality is home to the Maulawin Spring Protected Landscape and the critically endangered Inagta Lopez, a dialect of the critically endangered Inagta Alabat language, who has – at most – 30 speakers left in the world.

Guidelines for Verification

  1. The Certified List of Candidates (List), as posted, is merely an initial List and subject to editing.
  2. All candidates are enjoined to check their names, specifically their Names to Appear on the Official Ballot, in the List.
  3. Any request for correction, if allowed, shall be communicated to the Regional Election Director, Provincial Election Supervisor, or Election Officer concerned in writing until 9 November 2018. The Election Officer shall in turn, submit a memorandum to the Law Department, by the fastest means of communication with regard to the request for correction.
  4. The Law Department shall determine whether or not the request for correction is allowed.
  5. The List is subject to the outcome of the various cases/issues pending before the Commission.
