Padre Garcia, Batangas Official Local Candidates 2019 Midterm Elections

Two people are running for mayor of Padre Garcia, Batangas in the coming 2019 local elections.

Registered voters will elect for the elective local posts in Padre Garcia: the mayor, vice mayor, the Congressman, and the councilors, six in each of the city’s two legislative districts, on May 13, 2019.

Padre Garcia, officially the Municipality of Padre Garcia, (Tagalog: Bayan ng Padre Garcia), is a 2nd class municipality in the province of Batangas, Philippines. According to the 2015 census, it has a population of 48,302 people.

Padre Garcia’s old name is Lumang Bayan, as it is the former seat of government of the neighboring town of Rosario. The name of the town is derived from one of its most famous sons, Padre Vicente Garcia, a native of Barangay Maugat. He was one of the first defenders of Jose Rizal’s Noli Me Tangere. He and Rizal were friends during the time when they were fighting for the Philippine’s independence from Spain.

Guidelines for Verification

  1. The Certified List of Candidates (List), as posted, is merely an initial List and subject to editing.
  2. All candidates are enjoined to check their names, specifically their Names to Appear on the Official Ballot, in the List.
  3. Any request for correction, if allowed, shall be communicated to the Regional Election Director, Provincial Election Supervisor, or Election Officer concerned in writing until 9 November 2018. The Election Officer shall in turn, submit a memorandum to the Law Department, by the fastest means of communication with regard to the request for correction.
  4. The Law Department shall determine whether or not the request for correction is allowed.
  5. The List is subject to the outcome of the various cases/issues pending before the Commission.
