Some areas as early as Friday, Oct. 13, have announced the suspension of classes and office work on Monday, October 16, 2017 due to the scheduled transport strike of jeepney operators.

Other local government units are expected to announce on before Monday, October 16, 2017, the suspension of classes for Monday in all affected areas in the elementary, high school, and college levels.

#WALANGPASOK: Class suspensions on October 16, 2017

Netizens are awaiting the announcement of class cancellations since the day the militant transport groups Pinagkaisang Samahan ng mga Tsuper at Operators Nationwide (PISTON) planned the two-day transport strike.

Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) Board Member Aileen Lizada said on Wednesday that they have discussed with Stop and Go coalition of proposals for gradual modernization.

The upcoming transport strike will be Piston’s third for this year to protest the Department of Transportation’s looming jeepney modernization program, amid the complaint faced by the transport group’s president, George San Mateo.
