The ranking of the best psychology schools in the Philippines for 2017 has been released, which currently features only 39 of the 297 colleges and universities offering undergraduate programs in psychology.
University of Santo Tomas led the list of the top performing schools offering psychology undergraduate programs in 2017 with 84.61 percent overall score. University of the Philippines-Diliman followed with 80.07 percent while Ateneo de Manila University and Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila ranked third and fourth with 73.57 percent and 72.21 percent overall scores, respectively. Far Eastern University-Manila landed fifth with 70.10 percent. University of Santo Tomas, University of the Philippines-Diliman, and Ateneo de Mania University are currently Centers of Excellence (COE) for psychology as accredited by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). Far Eastern University-Manila presently holds neither COE nor COD accreditation status.
The rankings are based on the results of one licensure examination this year held last month, October, plus other factors including level of accreditation and faculty-student ratio to find out which schools offering undergraduate programs in psychology have the most valuable degree programs to produce batch of examinees with high psychometrician licensure examination passing rate.
The ranking uses the same performance indicators as the Local Pulse School Rankings, however the weightings for number of examinees were adjusted to reflect programs with less examinees. Details on the methodology are discussed here. Other possible factors which are possibly secondary variables in determining the best Philippine schools to study psychology are included in the disclaimer page. Factors such as international linkages, community involvement, employer reputation, research outputs, and research citations per faculty are not part of this study. These variables are assumed to be assessed by accredited agencies such as PACUCOA, PAASCU, and AACCUP.

To rank the schools, we took the passing rates of October 2017 Psychometrician licensure examination, the number of examinees, and top performing examinees as the overall board exam performance, and faculty-student ratio and accreditation status of the psychology undergraduate program as other criteria. Note that the passing rates we used this year were adjusted to 60% and above (unlike the PRC’s 80%), and minimum of 30 examinees (unlike the PRC’s 50 minimum examinees).
