The Technological University of the Philippines-Manila, the nation’s premier state university of technology education, placed third after registering an overall score of about 79.71%. A research and coeducational state university in the Philippines, Polytechnic University of the Philippines-Main in Sta. Mesa, Manila, followed with an overall score of 78.92%.

Mapua University in Manila made the 5th rank on the list for 2014-2018, ahead of University of San Carlos in Cebu City at 6th rank, University of the Philippines-Mindanao at 7th rank, Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila at 8th rank, Saint Louis University in Baguio City at 9th rank, and Holy Angel University in Angeles City, Pampanga at 10th.

The ranking is based on the results of architecture licensure examinations from 2014 to 2018 plus other factors including accreditation status of the program in 2018 and 5-year average faculty-student ratio to find out which schools offering programs in architecture have the most valuable degree programs within the 5-year period to produce batch of examinees with high architecture licensure examination passing rates.

The ranking uses the same performance indicators as the Local Pulse School Rankings, however the measured time is 5 years or from 2014 to 2018. Details on the methodology are discussed here. Other possible factors which are possibly secondary variables in determining the best architecture schools in the Philippine are included in the disclaimer page. Factors such as international linkages, community involvement, employer reputation, research outputs, and research citations per faculty are not part of this study. These variables are assumed to be assessed by accrediting agencies such as PACUCOA, PAASCU, AACCUP, and CHEd, and thus they are integrated in the accreditation of the institutions.

1-12 Best Architecture Schools in the Philippines for 2014-2018

RELATED STORIES

To rank the schools, we took the weighted passing rate average of architecture licensure examinations from 2014 to 2018 (40%), the total number of examinees in the 5-year period (20%), and top performing examinees within 2014 to 2018 (10%) as the overall board exam performance, and the average faculty-student ratio from 2014-2018 (10%) and accreditation status of the physical therapy programs (20%) as other criteria. Note that the weighted passing rate average we used for 2014-2018 physical therapy licensure examinations were adjusted to 60% and above (unlike the PRC’s 80%), and minimum of 50 examinees (PRC’s 50 minimum examinees per examination period).
