Malacañang Palace has declared February 28, March 2, 7, 8, 16, 17, 19, 21, 22, 29, and 31, 2018 as special non-working holidays in selected areas for the celebration of important events.

Executive Secretary Saldavor C. Medialdea through the authority of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte signed proclamations No. 422-425, 427-430, and 432-437 declaring special non-working day in La Union, Escalante City in Negros Occidental, Basilan, Island Garden City of Samal, Tayug in Pangasinan, City of Calapan in Oriental Mindoro, Baliwag in Bulacan, Mambusao in Capiz, Tagum City, Compostela Valley, La Trinidad in Benguet, Malaybalay in Bukidnon, Southern Leyte, and City of Canlaon in Negros Oriental.

According to Administrative Code of 1987, Book III, Chapter 2, Section 4, proclamations are “Acts of the President fixing a date or declaring a status or condition of public moment or interest, upon the existence of which the operation of a specific law or regulation is made to depend, shall be promulgated in proclamations which shall have the force of an executive order.”

Proclamation No. 422: La Union will celebrate its 168th Founding Anniversary on March 2 (Friday)

Proclamation No. 423: Escalante City in Negros Occidental will celebrate its charter anniversary on February 28 (Wednesday)

Proclamation No. 424: Basilan Province will celebrate its 44th Founding Anniversary on March 7 (Wednesday)

Proclamation No. 425: Island Garden City of Samal in Davao del Norte will celebtrate its 20th Founding Anniversary on March 7 (Wednesday)

Proclamation No. 427: Municipality of Tayug in Pangasinan will celebrate its founding anniversary on March 17 (Saturday)

Proclamation No. 428: City of Calapan in Oriental Mindoro will celebrate its 20th Founding Anniversary on March 21 (Wednesday)

Proclamation No. 429: Baliwag, Bulacan will celebrate the 155th Birth Anniversary of Mariano Ponce on March 22 (Thursday)

Proclamation No. 430: Mambusao, Capiz will celebrate its founding anniversary on March 29 (Thursday)

Proclamation No. 432: Tagum City will celebrate its founding anniversary (Araw ng Tagum) on March 7 (Wednesday)

Proclamation No. 433: Compostela Valley will celebrate its 11th Bulawan Festival on March 8 (Thursday)

Proclamation No. 434: La Trinidad, Benguet will celebrate its 37th Strawberry Festival on March 16 (Friday)

Proclamation No. 435: Malaybalay, Bukidnon will celebrate its 20th Charter Anniversary on March 22 (Thursday)

Proclamation No. 436: Southern Leyte will celebrate its First Mass in the Philippines on March 31 (Sunday)

Proclamation No. 437: City of Canlaon, Negros Oriental will celebrate its Pasayaw Festival on March 19 (Monday)

OTHER SPECIAL HOLIDAYS PER REPUBLIC ACT (waiting for official proclamation this year):

Republic Act No. 9191: March 1 of every year is hereby declared a special non-working holiday in the City of Muntinlupa to be known as “Muntinlupa City Charter Day” in order to commemorate the Charter Anniversary of the said city.

Republic Act No. 7551: March 16 of every year as “Araw ng Davao,” a special non-working public holiday in Davao City

Republic Act No. 7679: An act declaring March 27 (Monday this 2017) of every year a special non-working public holiday in San Juan City to commemorate the anniversary and formation as an independent municipality by virtue of Philippine Commission Act No. 1625.
