Tropical Depression Henry has maintained strength and is now threatening northern Cagayan, PAGASA said on Monday evening.
At 7 p.m., PAGASA spotted the center of Henry at 105 kilometers east southeast of Calayan, Cagayan packing maximum sustained winds of 60 kilometers per hour and gustiness of 75 kilometers per hour, moving west at 30 kilometers per hour.
Some areas including Batanes, northern portion of Cagayan including Babuyan Group of Islands, northern portion of Apayao, and northern portion of Ilocos Norte has remained under Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal (TCWS) No. 1.
Occassional rains with gusty winds are expected over provinces under TCWS No. 1, state weather bureau said.
The weather agency said habagat rains would continue to prevail over Metro Manila, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, Mindoro Provinces, Palawan, and Western Visayas.
Scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms, meanwhile, are expected over the rest of the county, PAGASA added.
Based on automatic class suspension guideline by DepEd, LGUs have the authority to declare local suspensions in areas where there is no storm signal.
