Local government units in Luzon have announced class suspensions for August 4, 2014 due to the threat brought by southwest monsoon (Habagat) enhanced by Supertyphoon Jose (Halong).
Bataan Gov. Albert “Abet” Garcia suspended Monday classes in the province, in all levels in both public and private schools, because of the threat of the monsoon rain enhanced by Typhoon Jose.
State weather bureau has predicted that the southwest monsoon would bring rain over the Ilocos region and Central Luzon, Metro Manila, CALABARZON and MIMAROPA.
At 4:00 am today, August 4, PAGASA said that the eye of typhoon “JOSE” was located based on all available data at 870 km east of Casiguran, Aurora (16.3ºn, 131.2ºe) with maximum sustained winds of 195 kph and gustiness of up to 230 kph.
It is forecast to move west northwest at 11 kph, it added.
