A graduating student at Mantalisay High School in Libmanan, Camarines Sur was not allowed to attend graduation due to non-payment of P180 ticket.
His adviser told him that the school management said that this step was taken because he failed to pay the fundraising ticket despite repeated reminders.
But when interviewed by GMA Network, the female school principal denied him graduation because of computer glitch.
Before complaining to Department of Education in Camarines Sur, his father has begged his class adviser to allow his son to attend graduation rites but failed to secure seat. His class adviser told the father that the school principal did not allow his son to march because of such unpaid ticket.
Neitizens were furious at the incident and aired their their sides.
One Youtube user who identifies herself as Oteyza Wagsi, said, “Computer??? Napakababaw naman ng explanation! Bakit? Ang class adviser, hindi alam ang bilang ng kanyang estudyante??imposible!!! Huwag naman kayong mang uto.imagine.. Is it difficult to understand, that 180.00 which the parents cannot pay means they cannot afford, and beyond their means, which is easy to understand their situation. You should be inspired because inspite of their being poor, the student still was able to pursue his studies, and not having money is not the hindrance to your dream. Ok, yung pag martsa, that is once in a lifetime ng highschool life, that every student deserves.”
Another user extended help to pay the graduating student’s unpaid ticket. “Ano po ba ang full name ng student n yan? Name and contact no. Pls? I will send him some money,” Leni Ropero said.
