The poll body is expecting that hundred thousands young voters will register for the SK polls to complete the expected 2 million voters in 2015 SK Elections.

The poll will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2015, according to Comelec Resolution No. 9899, promulgated on Friday, September 5. People aged 15 and not more than 18 on the date of the elections can register as SK poll voters. Qualified voters may head to the local COMELEC office in the city or municipality where they reside to register for the polls.

If the voter will be 18 on February 22, 2015, then he is qualified to register. But if he will turn 18 on February 21, he cannot register because he is already 18 then on election day.

Also, applicants should also be residents of their respective barangays for at least 6 months.

Applicants need to bring any of the following documents:

  • certificate of live birth
  • baptismal certificate
  • school records
  • any other document that will establish your identity and qualifications

If these documents are not available, any person, under oath, may identify the applicant.

Earlier, Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos filed Senate Bill 3296 proposing that the barangay and SK polls be held instead on the last Monday of October 2015 and every five years thereafter.

Marcos said his bill would save billions of pesos for the government, which could be used to fund other aspects of national development.
