Typhoon Jose, the strongest typhoon this year, has gained more strength as it continues to move in a west northwest direction.
In the latest weather bureau bulletin issued Sunday evening, August 3, 2014, PAGASA said that the eye of Typhoon “JOSE” was located based on all available data at 970 km East of Casiguran, Aurora (15.8°N, 132.2°E).
At 7:00 PM today, ‘Bagyong Jose’ is packing a maximum sustained winds of 195 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 230 kph.
PAGASA said Typhoon Jose is forecast to move West Northwest at 11 kph.
Typhoon Jose is expected to be at 870 km East of Casiguran, Aurora by tomorrow morning (August 3) and at 800 km East Northeast of Aparri, Cagayan by Tuesday morning (August 5). By Wednesday morning, it is expected to be at 800 km East of Basco, Batanes.
The estimated rainfall amount is from 10 – 25 mm per hour (heavy – intense) within the 650 km diameter of the Typhoon.
State weather bureau has said that Typhoon Jose will not yet affect any part of the country. However, the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) will bring occasional rains over Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Ilocos Region, CALABARZON and MIMAROPA.
