Twenty-two areas were placed under Signal No. 1 Wednesday, November 26, 2014 as Tropical Depression Queenie intensified as it continues to move closer towards the province of Surigao Del Sur.

Typhoon Quennie Update

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that as of 4 p.m. Wednesday, Queenie was spotted at 60 km East Northeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur.

Bagyong Queenie is packing maximum winds of 55 kph near the center and is forecast to move west at 24 kph.

It is expected to make landfall over the province of Surigao del Sur by Wednesday evening and is expected to traverse the Northern Mindanao area. By Thursday morning, Queenie is expected to be in the southern part of the Central-Western Visayas area, and at 210 km West of Dumaguete City or at 290 km East of Puerto Princesa City by Thursday afternoon. By Friday Afternoon, it is expected to be at 330 km West Northwest of Puerto Princesa, and will exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Friday evening.

  • Southern Leyte,
  • Bohol,
  • Southern Cebu,
  • Negros Oriental,
  • Southern Negros Occidental,
  • Siquijor,
  • Surigao del Norte,
  • Siargao Island,
  • Surigao del Sur,
  • Agusan del Norte,
  • Agusan del Sur,
  • Davao del Norte,
  • Davao Oriental,
  • Compostella Valley,
  • Dinagat Province,
  • Camiguin,
  • Misamis Oriental,
  • Misamis Occidental,
  • Bukidnon, and
  • Zamboanga del Norte.

The state weather bureau said there will be estimated rainfall of 7-15 mm per hour (moderate-heavy) within the 300 km diameter of Queenie.

Residents in low-lying and mountainous areas in provinces under signal no. 1, as well as the rest of Mindanao, are alerted against possible flash floods and landslides.
