The low pressure area East of Hinatuan, Surigao Del Sur has developed into a tropical depression and was named Bagyong Seniang.

In its latest weather report, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said that “seniang” was estimated to be 340 km East of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur at 4 a.m., Sunday, December 28, 2014.

It has a maximum sustained winds of up to 45 kilometers near the center, moving west at 11 kilometers per hour.

Further, Pagasa estimated that “Goring” will be 60 km East of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur by Monday morning, 120 km East of Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte by Tuesday morning, and 170 km West of Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte by Wednesday morning.

A total of 10 areas were placed in public storm signal warning 1 including:

  • Surigao del Sur
  • Agusan del Norte
  • Agusan del Sur
  • Davao del Norte
  • Davao Oriental
  • Compostella Valley
  • Camiguin Island
  • Misamis Oriental
  • Bukidnon

PAGASA said that Bagyong Seniang is expected to make a landfall on Monday morning in the vicinity of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur. Tropical Depression Seniang is associated with occasional rains with occasional gusty winds and moderate-heavy rainfall (7-15mm per hour).

Its estimated rainfall amount is from 7 – 15 mm per hour (moderate – heavy) within the 300 km diameter of the Tropical Depression, state weather bureau added.

Residents in low lying and mountainous areas of the provinces with PSWS#1 as well as the rest of Mindanao are alerted against possible flashfloods and landslides.

Fisherfolks and those with small seacrafts are advised not to venture out over the eastern seaboard of Visayas and Mindanao.
