Tropical Storm “Seniang” has maintained its strength and is now moving towards Cebu.
According to PAGASA’s 5 a.m. update, December 30, Seniang had maximum sustained winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph.
At 4 a.m., the center of Tropical Storm “SENIANG” was estimated based on all available data at 35 km Southeast of Mactan, Cebu City (9.9°N, 123.7°E).
It is forecast to move West Northwest at 11 kph.
Six areas in Visayas have been placed under public storm warning signal number 2 (winds of 61 – 100 kph is expected in at least 24 hours). These are:
- Bohol
- Siquijor
- Cebu
- Guimaras
- Negros Oriental
- Negros Occidental
These areas will have stormy weather with heavy to intense rains.
Meanwhile, a total of 13 areas have been placed under public storm warning signal number 1 (winds of 30 – 60 kph is expected in at least 36 hours). These areas, which will have moderate to heavy rains with occasional gusty winds, include

- Southern Leyte
- Camotes Island
- Iloilo
- Antique
- Capiz
- Aklan
- Camiguin
- Surigao del Norte
- Agusan del Norte
- Misamis Occidental
- Misamis Oriental
- Zamboanga del Norte
Estimated rainfall within Seniang’s 300 km diameter was from 7.5 – 15 mm per hour (moderate – heavy), the bureau said.
Residents in low lying and mountainous areas of the provinces with PSWS#2 and PSWS#1 especially CARAGA Region as well as over Eastern Visayas and the rest of Mindanao are alerted against possible flashfloods and landslides.
Ocean waves may reach up to 5 meters, the bureau added.
Fisher folks and those with small seacrafts are advised not to venture out over the eastern seaboards of Luzon and the seaboard of Visayas and over the northern and eastern seaboards of Mindanao.
Tropical Storm Seniang is forecast to be 235 km West Northwest of Dumaguete City by Wednesday morning, 115 km South Southwest of Puerto Princesa City by Thursday morning, and 450 km Southwest of Puerto Princesa City by Friday morning.
