Ateneo Lady Eagles vs La Salle Lady Spikers takes place in the UAAP Season 78 Volleyball Finals Game 3 on Saturday afternoon, April 30, in the winner takes all showdown between these fierce competitors. The game is scheduled to tip off at 3:30 p.m. Philippine Standard Time and can be watched on ABS-CBN Sports+Action or online through free live stream (details below).

La Salle is under threat and Ara Galang and friends are facing a surprise lose if they underperform tomorrow afternoon. Although many had predicted this to be a tight series, most would have penciled in the Ateneo Lady Eagles as the season champions without hesitation. However, the Lady Spikers have different ideas and are refusing to step aside for Lady Eagles to be crowned season champs again.

The Lady Spikers have revealed that the Lady Eagles are not invincible, and have shown up some of their top players as seriously underperforming. In the first 2 sets of Game 2, Alyssa Valdez has not played anywhere near as well as fans have come to expect from her, and other top players have struggled, and just have not been up for the defense and spikes. The Lady Eagles have seemingly lost confidence, and have left Ara Galang overwhelmed in carrying to weight of the team’s expectations on her shoulders.

But came set 3 and falling to the brink of elimination, 3-time UAAP MVP Alyssa Valdez rallied her Lady Eagles and dominated the remaining sets to keep their hopes for a third straight championship alive.

If the Lady Spikers do end up losing tomorrow afternoon they will look back at Game 2 with frustration. They will feel they should have won that game, but had it snatched away from them with Alyssa Valdez scoring 34 points while Jhoana Maraguinot and Bea De Leon added a combined 27.
