Game 1 of Ateneo vs La Salle in UAAP 77 Finals women’s volleyball tournament will take place on Wednesday, March 11, at the Araneta Coliseum.
Thrice-to-beat Ateneo Lady Eagles will be looking to claim their championship victory at the UAAP Season 77 Finals when they face Galang-less La Salle Lady Archers.
The Lady Archers have succeeded to win a semifinals match against NU Lady Bulldogs, and they are unlikely to trouble a very strong Lady Eagles side. It got even more difficult after team captain Ara Galang suffered a season-ending injury on her left knee during Game 2 of their semi-final match against National University (NU) last Saturday.
Without Ara Galang, winning the first match is unlikely but a strong showing against their past matches would give them great momentum going into the finals.
Lady Archers will now rely on the expertise of the veterans like Mika Reyes, Desiree Cheng and Cyd Demecillo. They are expected to elevate their game, while setter Kim Fajardo can be more unpredictable this time around.
