The 2018 UAAP Cheerdance Competition, a UAAP Season 81 highlight, happens November 17 at the Mall of Asia Arena. Here’s how to watch the CDC event live stream online.
Eight competing cheerleading groups will showcase their school cheer, dance routines, stunts, pyramids, and tumblings during this exciting and breathtaking one-day annual event.
The reigning champion is the Adamson Pep Squad who hopes to steal the hearts of the crowd once again and capture back-to-back championships with another fun and quirky routine just like their #80sfor80 performance last year.
The sequence of performances on Saturday have been drawn. According to a Facebook post by ABS-CBN Sports, the order will be as follows:
- UE Red Squad
- UP Pep Squad
- UST Salinggawi Dance Troupe
- DLSU Green Animo Squad
- NU Cheer Squadron
- Ateneo Blue Bubble Battalion
- FEU Cheering Squad
- Adamson Pep Squad
The UAAP will use the same scoring system since 2013 for its Cheerdance Competition. This is how the eight competing squads will be judged:
- The first thing to understand is that judges will be split into two panels with four members each: one is the cheer panel and one is the dance panel.
- The cheer panel will further be broken down into four categories: stunts, pyramids, tosses, and tumbling. All four categories will be overseen by an individual judge who will focus on his/her own category and give a score with a maximum of 100.
- The four judges in the dance panel will then abide by a criteria of Overall Effect (10 points), Choreography (30 points), Technique (40 points), and Group Execution (20 points) and will each give a score with a maximum of 100.
- Adding up the scores from the four cheer panel judges and the four dance panel judges, each squad may garner up to 800 points.
- However, a separate judge will also be on the lookout for any errors. A minor mistake entails a one-point deduction while a major mistake entails a three-point deduction.
- The final score will be determined by subtracting the deductions, if any, from the combined scores from the eight-member panel.
