
He also touched on the idea of federalism and the need to meet it head on. While many are still against the idea with the penchant of the government to be too sweeping in its proclamations, it really needs to be resolved in the most opportune time. While it may be good to follow a federalist form of government, the liberalist thinking of Filipinos would definitely oppose such a transition.
It still is not clear why the government is adamant about the shift in form. The fact that it has economic implications is evident but the security concerns attached to it may prove to be quite insurmountable. The rebellion in Marawi and the subsequent missteps by the PNP and the AFP are proof to back up the opposition to a transition.
