A magnitude 5.5 earthquake shook Zambales province and was also felt in Metro Manila and in Bulacan on May 25, 2017, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology and Facebook users said.
There was no immediate report of damage or injury from the inland quake that struck at 10:27 p.m. at 12 kilometers northeast of San Marcelino, Zambales at a shallow depth of 78 kilometers.
The quake was felt in parts of Metro Manila, Cavite, Bulacan, Pampanga, and Bataan, as Facebook users reported feeling the tremor.
Intensity 4 was felt in Quezon City; Pateros; and Malolos, Bulacan while Intensity 3 in Tagaytay City; Talisay Batangas; San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan; Pasay City; Makati City; Mandaluyong; Manila City; Paranaque City; Taguig City; San Miguel, Tarlac; and Marilao, Bulacan.
The agency added that Intensity 2 was registered in Palayan City; Bacoor, Cavite; and San Jacinto, Pangasinan.
Meanwhile, PHIVOLCS said instrumental intensities were registered in the following areas: at Intensity IV in Quezon City, and Marikina City while Intensity III in Talisay, Batangas; Palayan City; and Batangas City. Intensity II in Magalang, Pampanga and Intensity I in Sinait, Ilocos Sur were registered.
Philvocs said there was no casualty or damage reported from the temblor but aftershocks were expected from the affected areas.
