7 Adventists Dominate Top 10 Spots in Physician Licensure Examination

Seven Seventh-day Adventist Church members have dominated the top 10 list of successful examinees in the March 2019 Physician Licensure Examination.

Adventist Clinton Rosita Rabadon of West Visayas State University-La Paz shared the No. 1 spot with Jan Bendric Co Borbe of University of Santo Tomas. Both graduates of medicine had marks of 89.83 to lead the 1,209 passers of the exams administered in the cities of Manila, Baguio, Cebu, and Zamboanga.

Daniel Cajayon Panaglima of Matias H. Aznar Memorial College of Medicine, Inc. ranked third with 88.75 percent while Jessa Elaine Balbastro Fronda of same medical school placed fifth with 88.33 percent.

Dale Ivan Aurigue Bruel of University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center ranked 7th with 87.92 percent while Jonathan Jallorina Macatiag IV of University of the Philippines-Manila ranked 8th with 87.58 percent. According to Ms. Mary Cyrin Victoria Defiño, a medical technology faculty member at Adventist University of the Philippines in Silang, Cavite, both passers were graduates of AUP and top passers in the medical technologist licensure examinations. Dale Ivan Aurigue Bruel ranked 5th in the medical technologist licensure examination in March 2012 while Jonathan Jallorina Macatiag IV, batchmate of Ms. Defiño, placed 4th in March 2013.

Temie Paul Baguio Villarino of Western Visayas State University-La Paz placed 9th with 87.42 percent while Wilma Cleo Yvonne Borja Dapog of Cebu Doctors’ University-College of Medicine ranked 10th with 87.33 percent.

Dr. Daniel Cajayon Panaglima, Dr. Jessa Elaine Balbastro, and Dr. Wilma Cleo Yvonne Borja Dapog were graduates of Manila Adventist College in Pasay City.

A total of 1,579 took the exams.

Far Eastern University-Nicanor Reyes Medical Foundation was the top performing school in the board exam with a 97.96 percent passing rate followed by Our Lady of Fatima University-Valenzuela with 82.16 percent passing rate. Matias H. Aznar Memorial College of Medicine, Inc. placed 3rd with 81.08 percent passing rate.
