Minimum wage workers in the private sector in Metro Manila are due an increase of P15 in their basic pay, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said.
The minimum daily wage in the National Capital Region for non-agricultural workers now stands at P481.00. For other private sector works, the minimum wage is at P444.00.
The increase was approved after a one-year ban in between the granting of wage orders by the regional wage boards.
The last wage order by the NCR wage board was issued on September 6, 2013, wherein a P10 basic wage increase starting October 4, 2013, and an integration of the P15 cost-of-living-allowance beginning January 1, 2014 was provided in two tranches.
According to DOLE, the new daily minimum wage rate will take effect by mid-April or 15 working days after the publication of the wage order in a national newspaper.
