Kubot: The Aswang Chronicles 2 under Erik Matti is now an official entry in the upcoming Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2014 this December 25.
‘Kubot’ is the sequel of theater hit The Aswang Chronicles, a 2012 Filipino comedy-action-horror film directed by Erik Matti. Stars in the ‘Tiktik: The Aswang Chronicles’ involved Dingdong Dantes, Lovi Poe, Joey Marquez, Janice de Belen, Roi Vinzon and LJ Reyes.
The second installment includes Dingdong Dantes, Ramon Bautista, Isabelle Daza, and Jeron Teng as main cast. Reports from other websites said that KC Montero will also join the cast of the film.
Kubot, as defined by Wikipilipinas, is a bat-like creature that resembles an umbrella with its huge, wide wings. It catches its victim by its claws and takes it home to be butchered.
Kubot, is one of the 6 monsters or ghouls term for Aswang, a ghoul in Philippine Mythology which appears to be an ordinary human by day, and turns into a blood-sucking monster as darkness falls.
The film is Written by Erik Matti, and Michiko Yamamoto. As of February 11, Kubot: The Aswang Chronicles 2 is on a third-draft by Michiko Yamamoto, an award-winning Philippine scriptwriter. She has also produced independent films.
