The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) has released the official list of Taguig City official candidates for the coming 2016 local elections.
Local elections will be held in Taguig City on May 9, 2016 within the Philippine general election. The registered voters will elect for the elective local posts in the city: the mayor, vice mayor, two congressmen (or district representatives), and the councilors, eight in each of the city’s two legislative districts.
Cayetano who is leading a Nationalista Party slate will be running with reelectionist Vice Mayor Ricardo Cruz.
Cayetano will be contested by Rommel Tiñga, cousin of former mayor Sigfrido Tiñga, the son of former Associate Justice Dante Tiñga. He has no running mate.
For congressional race, Arnel Cerafica is the incumbent for the 1st Congressional District. He will be facing off against Gloria Cabrera. Cerafica is also nominated by local party Kilusang Diwa ng Taguig.
Senator Pia Cayetano will be running to be a congressman for the 2nd District after incumbent Rep. Lino Cayetano decided not to run in any position due to his personal reason. He will be facing off against Che Che Gonzales.

Guidelines for Verification
- The Certified List of Candidates (List), as posted, is merely an initial List and subject to editing.
- All candidates are enjoined to check their names, specifically their Names to Appear on the Official Ballot, in the List.
- Any request for correction, if allowed, shall be communicated to the Regional Election Director, Provincial Election Supervisor or Election Officer concerned in writing until 21 January 2016. The Election Officer shall in turn, submit a memorandum to the Law Department, by the fastest means of communication with regard to the request for correction.
- The Law Department shall determine whether or not the request for correction is allowed.
- The List is subject to the outcome of the various cases/issues pending before the Commission.
