Some local government units have announced local holidays and some schools have declared a suspension of classes at all levels for Friday, December 8, 2017.

The following local government units have announced a holiday on the said date as they will be celebrating their foundation day:
- Agoo, La Union province – 439th Foundation Day
- Antipolo City – 426th Foundation Day
Taguig was founded as a town on April 25, 1587 but was elevated to a status of a city on December 8, 2004.

Meanwhile, suspension of classes has also been announced by officials of some schools in celebration of the Feast Day of the Immaculate Conception.
According to the teaching of the Catholic Church, is the conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary free from original sin by virtue of the foreseen merits of her son Jesus Christ.
The Catholic Church celebrates the Feast of the Immaculate Conception on December 8; in many Catholic countries, it is a holy day of obligation or patronal feast, and in some a national public holiday.
The House of Representatives unanimously passed on third and final reading House bill 5241 declaring December 8 of every year a special non-working holiday in the entire country to celebrate the Feast of the Immaculate Conception of Mary, but it is still has to be approved by the Senate and signed into law by the president.
